How To Prevent Knee Injuries
According to "Knee Injury Prevention", the knee is "third of the three segments on the most injured body parts in military/athletic training" (Smith). In order to prevent this from happening, there are some prevention techniques. These include:
- Stretching! This is one of the best things that you can do to prevent knee injuries.
- Make sure your thigh and hamstrings are not stronger or more flexible than the other. This imbalance can cause your knee to try and support the difference in flexibility or strength, causing injury.
- Replace your sneakers after 6 months or 300-400 miles. After a certain amount of time, shoes will wear out and cause stress on the knee.
- Try to avoid using your running and walking shoes as the same ones. There is a difference in how we walk and how we run.
